Cosplay @ 41

It's August 31 again and everyone at SOCOTECO I is busy preparing for its 41st Foundation Anniversary. Lats year's celebration is a full blast dance number from all employees in every department, our General Manager, as well as the board of directors is not excluded in the said show. Everyone dances like a pro as we hire dance instructors to make the show splendid.

This year's celebration is indeed different from last year. The idea is some sort of a costume party or shall we say it "Cosplay @ 41". Each department has a theme where we are given at least a 5 to 7 minute presentation. It's up to us if we act, dance or sing or combination of it. 

THE PREPARATION:

It seems to be a Christmas season the days before the event since everyone is busy buying their costumes and props.  Since our theme is movie, we all choose the Pirates of the Carribean, we went to almost all ukay ukay stores in order to buy our pirate costumes. Luckily, I got a corset and boots that suites me perfectly. 

As for the presentation, we have decided to do a combination of act and dance. Elna made our story line and we have just edited it in order to make it lively by putting up songs in it. The day before the event, we have decided to dub it so that our audience will be able to understand the story. Ryan and I edited our recorded voice in a way it's not longer than 7 minutes. And just by lunch time, we had just finished it. We had our first practice late afternoon until around 9 pm in the evening.

We didn't aim the first place since we know that some of the department had their practice a week before the event. Also, other departments have prepared their props well that the group of Flintstones made a replica of Fred's car and a mountain where a real smoke is coming out from it. So, before the contest, our minds are settled for the consolation prize.

The PRESENTATION:

The presentation is little bit funny for some of us are already drunk as they went to the stage. As for me, I am so tense before the performance for I might not act well on the lines that have been given to me. But as our “last practice”(as we call our presentation) began, every nervousness that I had has been drifted away.

After our presentation, there was a relief inside me that I am at ease with everything. It’s because I know that we did our best. We’ve been so comfortable watching every presentation until down to the last performer. While we are watching, our pride revealed when we had some thoughts that we might make it on top three at the very least.

Before the awarding of winners, I’ve managed to get a picture with the people whom I think has the best costume. Unfortunately, some of them already changed their dress after their presentation.

Our one day practice paid off during the awarding of winners when we’ve heard the judge announcing the pirates as the champion during the presentation.

Since we are already in the party area, some of us stayed and enjoyed the night. We’ve party until the wee hours in the morning.
