HUNGER GAMES

I first heard of hunger games from the facebook statuses of my friends. I thought it was a famous online game replacing angry bird or plant vs. zombies, but I was wrong when people keep posting their excitement on hunger games in theatres. I asked myself how come I didn’t know this thing and told myself that maybe this is just a famous movie or something; So I erased the thought of it in my mind. However, I saw it in MSN News and they keep comparing it to Twilight. With it, I realized I am dead to Hunger Games.

So, I watched the movie as my friends suggested.  I like the movie – of course I am not disappointed with it since I did not yet read the book.I like its unique story – enough with the vampires and werewolves thing. Hunger Games is somehow new in my mind that I bought its three books not knowing if it is a good read or not.
These past few days, my mind is preoccupied by the book. Whenever I read it, I feel like I am with Katniss – the protagonist. The book is in first person that you begin to feel whatever Katniss feels. I can see before my eyes the District 12, the arena and the Capitol. I love the book because it made me go and see a different world - the world of Hunger Games.

The book also taught me how to be like Katniss, the girl on fire. She has a passion deep inside her which has been realized when she went into the arena, when she is fighting for her life and for the life of her loved ones. Katniss has the courage to fight for what she thought is right even if she feels other people just take advantage of her.  With her family and friends believing and fighting with her, she defeats the enemy and wins her game.  And that is Katniss.

Suzanne Collins, the author of the book, had made it – She made me hook into the story. I am not actually trying to have a book review here because I do not know how. I just want to express how I am fascinated by this book. And after two weeks of reading it, here is the compilation of my favorite quotes from it.

“At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead. The hard thing is finding the courage to do it.”  ― Suzanne CollinsCatching Fire

“My spirit. This is a new thought. I'm not sure exactly what it means, but it suggests I'm a fighter. In a sort of brave way. It's not as if I'm never friendly. Okay, maybe I don't go around loving everybody I meet, maybe my smiles are hard to come by, but i do care for some people.”
― Suzanne CollinsThe Hunger Games

“So after, when he whispers," You love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him, "Real.”

“As long as you can find yourself, you’ll never starve.”
 Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

“If he wants me broken, then I will have to be whole.”
 Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

“It means thanks, it means admiration, it means good-bye to someone you love.”
 Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

“I can survive just as fine without any either of them”
 Suzanne Collins

“Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place where I love you.”
-Katniss Everdeen

“Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to…to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games”
-Peeta Mellark”
 Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

“And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.”   Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games
